20260929-0012-air-lock-nrf54l15 Lock nRF54L15 as the first Air SoC and record why not CC2652R7 or CC1354P10

Air spec R0.5 and design appendix R0.3 name nRF54L15 as the first-build recommendation with TI CC2755R10 as the alternate; §8 says no row is a production selection until the AIR-O-* items close. Spec §1 excludes Matter from the first build; AIR-O-03 leaves the L15 / L10 / L05 tier to the linker map. CC2652R7 appears only in the TI evaluation; CC1354P10 is not compared on the Air side (§2.3 lists CC1354R10 as a sub-GHz overlay candidate).

The owner asked why not CC2652 (assumed cheaper), then CC1354P10, and wants BLE, Zigbee and Matter selectable by firmware on one hardware. Owner decision: nRF54L15.

Figures gathered (2026-09-29):

nRF54L15 CC2652R7 CC1354P10
Unit price DigiKey ~$3.6–4.6 retail; not on LCSC LCSC $4.93 @1, $3.12 @1k LCSC RGZ $9.97 (stock 1), RSK $13.83 @100
2.4 GHz RX / TX 0 dBm 3.2 / 5.0 mA 6.4 / 7.3 mA 6.9 / 7.1 mA (R10 figures, SWRS266B)
Sleep 0.6 µA 0.9 µA 0.98 µA
Flash / RAM 1.5 MB / 256 KB 704 KB / 144 KB 1 MB / 256 KB
NFC NFC-A tag none none
Security TrustZone, KMU secure boot / debug lock not listed secure boot, TrustZone, debug lock
BLE / Zigbee / Matter all in nRF Connect SDK; Zigbee R23 CSA cert all; Matter image ~650–700 KB leaves no room for a second slot all; 1 MB, DFU slot needs external flash
Sub-GHz none none yes; +20 dBm PA draws 101 mA, unusable on CR2450

nRF54L10 is $2.10 @1k on LCSC but cannot hold a Matter image with DFU.

Spec P05-air.md → R0.6:

  1. §2 "电子平台" and §1: state nRF54L15 (QFN48) as the locked first-build SoC; CC2755R10 is no longer an alternate for the first build.
  2. §1 protocol boundary per decision A below.
  3. §8: AIR-O-02 drops the CC2755R10 branch (NFC OOB stays the path); AIR-O-03 fixes the tier at L15 and keeps open the DFU choice (external SPI flash vs. image compression), full order code and supply evidence.
  4. §9 change-log row.

Design appendix P05-air-design.md → R0.4:

  1. §2.1 heading and row: "首版锁定" instead of "首版推荐"; CC2755R10 row marked as not used in the first build.
  2. §2.2 table: add columns (or rows) for CC2652R7 and CC1354P10, both rejected, with the figures above and one "为什么否决" paragraph each (cost is not lower once NFC and storage are counted; higher RF current on a coin cell; CC2652R7 flash too small for Matter + DFU and no listed secure boot; CC1354P10's value is sub-GHz and its PA is unusable on CR2450 — CC1354R10 stays the §2.3 overlay candidate if AIR-O-09 ever needs it).
  3. §8 change-log row.

Decision needed (recommended default first):

  • A. Firmware-selectable protocols: (A1, recommended) first build ships BLE only; hardware and storage are sized so Zigbee and Matter images can be loaded later on the same board (L15, DFU layout reserved); Matter stays outside the first-build scope and certification. (A2) first build ships all three as firmware variants; §1 drops the Matter exclusion, battery budget must be redone for a Thread sleepy end device, and CSA membership / Matter certification enter the budget.
  • nRF54L15 volume price is not verified; only distributor retail figures.
  • A2 widens the first build: Thread polling current on CR2450 not estimated; Matter changes the Air–Air Hub topology (SYS-02 read-back via a Matter bridge).

About 5 documentation files: spec, design appendix, Air index, changelog, task/plan indexes. No code.

  • Keep nRF54L15 as a recommendation only and leave CC2755R10 as alternate: rejected, the owner locked the SoC.
  • 2026-09-29: owner approved with "根据这个来锁定air的规格,支持2-4键按键 纽扣电池"; decision A taken as A1 (BLE-only first build, storage reserved for Zigbee / Matter). "2-4键" read as the existing Air 2 / Air 4; battery stays 1×CR2450.
  • Implemented: spec R0.6, design appendix R0.4, Air index, product-plan wireless row, Tag design cross-reference row. Gate passed.
